Transport in Dubai

Dubai is one among the few countries equipped with both modern and traditional transportation facilities. The country that handles the most advanced Jet planes or driver-less metro trains also surprises the visitor with its camel travel and the use of conventional wooden boats known as Abras fitted with motors. For a group of tourists, we arrange guided bus coach services. Travel Plan Dubai, will consider it an honor to join the tourists to explore the thrill of the following other transportation facilities in Dubai.

Air Travel
Any tourist who flies into Dubai will feel excited on landing at Dubai International airport. The airport opened its terminal three on 2nd January 2013, exclusively to handle wide bodied jets such as the Airbus 380. Thus it became an airport with the biggest airport terminal in the world. In order to manage the increase in number of travelers, the country is in the process of completing the construction expansion of  Al Maktoum International Airport (Dubai World Central International Airport), which currently handles cargo operations. Incidentally the airport is also the base for Fly-Dubai a low-cost air carrier.

Public Buses
The Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai manages the public bus transport system in the country. RTA operates buses in around 193 bus routes covering all the important destinations and carries around 30 million every week. The busses, operated in the fleet are custom constructed with electronic display, air-conditioning and separate allocation of seats for individuals, ladies and family. The RTA operates buses through five zones to link business, industrial and residential districts with varying bus fare between zones.

The Dubai Taxi system is very popular and widely used to reach destinations that are not covered by Metro. The taxi system in Dubai is operated by both government and private companies. The taxies can be availed from public places or booked in advance to pick up from the door. The exclusive Pink Taxies driven by female drivers are operated for the comfort of the women passengers, who don't prefer to travel in a male driven taxi.

The Dubai metro became operational at 9:09:09 PM on 9th September 2009 with an investment of AED28 (US$7.6 billion). The advanced driver less trains run from Rashidiya to the main city center in Green Line. The Red line covers the airport to Jebel Ali routes. The Metro, which traverses through the city, comes as a boon to tourists as a cost-effective mode of transport. The 70 km metro facility interlinked with other transport modes assists the tourist and other travelers to travel with ease. When becomes fully operational it will unclog road travel in Dubai.

Water Transport
Dubai is endowed with an old but well planned water transport system. The system includes Abras (conventional wooden boats), water bus and water taxies. The slow-moving rowing abra or motorised abra covering Dubai gold Souk and Sabakha or Bur Dubai abra stations will thrill the tourists.

The Water Bus operated by Dubai Water Bus System is more sophisticated than an Abra and operates in four different routes.

The water Taxi is another marine transit mode, started in July 2010, offer luxury  and privacy during travel. The taxis designed to carry 11 passengers are equipped with air conditioned cabins, LCD TV and access to ramp. In contrast to Abras and Water Bus system, the water taxis go beyond the creek into the waters of gulf. The destinations covered by Water Taxis include Deira Souq, Jebel Ali Hotel and Spa.
