The Rich Cultural Heritage of Astana Pavilion, Abu Dhabi
The pavilion at Astana has been recently launched. It showcases the rich cultural heritage of Abu Dhabi. The efficient sustainability advances also make an important part of this pavilion.
The first UAE Pavilion was designed in the year 2010. Its winning design has been made by Sir Norman Foster and his partners. The building was designed for the Shanghai Expo of 2010. The architecture of that pavilion is stunning. It is shaped somewhat like two parallel sand dunes. These sand dune-like structures are extremely smooth and curvaceous on their windward side whereas eroded and steep on the other side. The UAE Pavilion is an extremely striking building for sight-seeing purposes. In the month of November, the UAE Pavilion holds the contemporary art fair. This is a must-visit event if you have a deep-seated love for arts.
The new pavilion that is the Astana Pavilion is a great destination for the visitors. It sprawls over more than 980 square meters. It is one of the largest expos and can house more than seven thousand visitors at once. A three-month exhibition is organized in the Kazakh capital. At this time, we can easily expect such a large gathering at the pavilion.
Sheikh Ahmad Saeed inaugurated this pavilion. The inauguration of the Astana Pavilion was done in the presence of the revered, Dr. Sultan Ahmad Al Jaber. He is the Chairman of the National Media Council and also the Minister of the State. The NMC is a Government entity that focuses on managing, organizing, directing and supervising the Astana Pavilion. A number of other officials and diplomats also hold the responsibility for the newly launched pavilion.
In an interview, Dr. Jaber stated that such pavilions are the key pillars of the country. They hold a highly future-oriented approach. They shall provide the basic framework and all the necessary enablers and resources that shall help to set the foundations for stability and sustainability in the country.
The NMC is a pioneering body and aims at communicating the best of the UAE experiences at Expo 2017. This Expo shall be held in the Astana Pavilion itself. The event shall also mark the promotion of the Expo which shall be held in the year 2020 in Dubai.
Dr. Jaber also talked about the event which shall be held in 2020. The main theme will be ‘Connecting Minds’ which shall reflect the content and features of the 2020 Expo. Authorities are looking forward to creating a great momentum in the Expo 2017 which shall be echoed in the Expo 2020. The positive energy reverberated in this year’s Expo shall help in creating greater cooperation and partnership for the 2020 event.
The basic framework of the Astana Pavilion is focused on energy conservation which will promote “Future Energy”. The design was basically inspired by the dunes of the majestic Liwa Desert. This desert is situated in the empty quarters of Abu Dhabi. The interiors are a perfect place and have been designed in an awe-inspiring and aesthetic manner. The walls are illuminated with the help of multiple projections in the form of videos. These videos mainly display the future of the energy sector of UAE.
The visitors to the pavilion will be able to easily explore the past, the present and the future of the sustainability sector of the country. There is a creative 270-degree film that shall serve this purpose. This wrap around the film is one of the main highlights of the newly launched pavilion. A number of other works shall be on the display. One such showcase will be the large-scale projects in the United Arab Emirates, which shall include Masdar investments in the efficient and clean energy projects throughout the Middle East and Mohammad bin Rashid Solar Energy Park.
This is one of the grandest projects that have been taken up in Abu Dhabi. If you are visiting the region, a visit to the Astana Pavilion and the old UAE Pavilion is a must. You will love the bright ambiance of the building. A virtual host will guide the visitors through the experience, with the overall tour of the Pavilion taking nearly 20 minutes to complete. You can also visit the iconic Manarat Al Saadiyat that is situated right next to the UAE Pavilion. Both the pavilions are a visual treat to the eyes of the visitors and must not be missed for anything in the world.
